Veeam Ransomware Stats
Date: 10.08.2025
The statistics are staggering. 2024 was an active year for ransomware and 2025+ has become the age of AI-powered ransomware. Additionally, company backups are a well-known and prime target for bad actors. The speed at which a company can back up their data is no longer a prime metric, rather all that matters is how quickly you can recover if something happens. And something will.. In this era, it is not a matter of "if," but "when" an attack occurs. If these statistics keep you up at night, let us show you how to add the only panacea to Ai-powered ransomware. Protection is no longer an optional expense, it is an absolute necessity for business survival today.

Elite Scality Partner Status

Scality Usable vs. Raw Licensing Explained
Date: 09.12.2025
Here, we want to combine two previous topics and create a better-together story. Take SuperMicro's extreme density plus Scality RING's GEO license, and add a new topic: Scality RING's usable capacity-based license. As we talked about earlier, the competition licenses raw capacity.
In our picture below, 12 servers with 90 x 24TB HDD's is 26PB of raw capacity. This is what most companies would make you license. Scality uniquely factors out protection overhead. Meaning, a single site standard 9 + 3 protection scheme only requires 18PB of licensing.
Contrast that with a use case that demands more protection. Using a 3 rack stretched architecture, Scality provides far more resiliency with the same licensed capacity: 18PB. The competition would require licensing for 32.5PB. This is an extreme cost-savings with far better data durability and availability.

The ARTESCA+ Veeam Unified Appliance
Date: 08.18.2025
Small but mighty. Think of the ARTESCA+ Veeam unified appliance as all the necessary components for the backup infrastructure. It provides the backup storage target and virtualization infrastructure to host the Veeam backup appliances all on a single device, or cluster. This, on a hardened, secured platform.

Extreme Rack Density for Unstructured Data
Date: 08.18.2025
30PB of enterprise SAS in a single 48RU rack. With the Super Micro SuperServer SSG-542B-E1CR90, this 4U top-loading storage server with 90 drive bays adds unparalleled cost efficiency for large PB-scale data lakes. On premise S3 storage can now be measured in fractions of pennies per GB, per month.
An example architecture featuring 12 of these SMC SuperServers can, in a single rack, protect 22PB of application data against 3 simultaneous server failures. This is a new definition of truly resilient infrastructure. Provides easily twice the performance of standard AWS S3 at the cost of AWS Glacier.
For a more detailed explanation about how we can leverage this, please see the datasheet here.

3-2-1-1-0 Rule Explained
Date: 07.09.2025
In the IT infrastructure arena, or more specifically, backup space, 3-2-1 has been around for nearly 20 years. Ironically, while originally credited to a photographer concerned about digital asset preservation, it has evolved into the de-facto staple for information preservation strategies for businesses.
Recent additions have expanded it to cover the ransomware threats of the last decade.
3-copies of your data
2-sets of media
1-off site
1st copy immutable or air-gapped
0 errors
What does immutable mean? WORM (write-once-read-many), object-locking, and immutability can often be used interchangeably. The core functionality is provided by the AWS S3 api, which has become ubiquitous for on-premises backup solutions. True immutability, or “compliance” mode, means no one - not even users with proper credentials (super users) - can delete data until the retention period expires. If you “lock” a dataset for 30 days, even encryption (a ransomware attack) cannot modify the original data for that duration. Furthermore, deletion cannot purge it. It’s preserved, unchangeable, and protected. This is a core tenant of modern-era data protection.
Data preservation isn't enough though. Businesses rely on the guarantee that you can quickly recover a functioning backup after disaster strikes. Backups are worthless if they fail during recovery. Guaranteeing that a backup is free from errors and immediately available for restoration is now a critical part of the backup process. Lastly, auditing the success of your restoration tests, automating recovery plans for accelerated restores, and reporting these metrics to the business unit closes the loop - and provides peace of mind, justifies expense, and protects your business's future.

Scality RING GEO Licensing Explained
Date: 07.07.2025
In most unstructured data storage deployments, licenses are based on some sort of capacity model. Details are numerous and varied, but in general, this truth remains the same. Every site requires more licensing. When your application writes data to two locations, creating two copies, in order to create the distributed data protection that you desire not only does this take twice as much hardware, but also twice as much licensing. Scality RING GEO licensing fundamentally changes this reality.
Suppose you had 1PB of Scality infrastructure at site A, and another 1PB at site B. This becomes a 1PB license. Continue to add data protection, with additional sites (or copies) of your dataset, without adding any additional licensing. Repeat: No additional licensing costs. If this sounds interesting, or if you need more details, reach out and we will explain more.
